GC Farms

Welcome to GC Farms Dairy Heaven!!!

GC Farms is located on 22-acre property off FM 225 N between Douglass and Cushing. We, Jerry and Marina Edgar moved here from Louisiana in 2010 to grow fruit and vegetables, raise chickens and cows as well as fish in 2-acre pond.

We purchased our first dairy Holstein cow in 2020 and by now we own two Holstein cows and one Jersey. For pictures and more information you can follow us on Facebook at Gracious Cows Farms. According to the test results conducted by US Davis Laboratory they produce the A2/A2 milk.

Today, the beta-casein found in cow’s milk is present in one of two variants: A2 beta-casein and A1 beta-casein. Originally, cow’s milk only had the A2 beta-casein protein present (A2/A2) – which is the same primary protein found in human milk. Because of this, A2 beta-casein is most natural to the human body and more easily absorbed.

However, the protein in cow’s milk has changed throughout time. Several thousands of years ago, there was a genetic mutation in the A2 beta-casein protein that created the A1 beta-casein variant, which has resulted in most commercially available cow’s milk today to become a mixture of A1 and A2 beta-casein (A2/A1). Unfortunately, the A1 beta-casein can be difficult for humans to digest and is linked to inflammation, gut discomfort and many other health issues.

The A2/A2 beta casein protein is known to be easier to digest for people with dairy allergies or lactose intolerance.

As a member of our Herd Share Program, you own a share of our cows. You get milk every week, or as needed, from your very own cow. The best news is that you don’t have to wake up at 5:00 am to milk her.

The A2/A2 milk you are getting is not pasteurized or homogenized and available in half gallon glass jars.

GC Farms uses all reusable glass mason style jars (widemouth) for our dairy products. There will be a $5 per-jar deposit that is required on all pickups, unless you are bringing a clean, equal size jar and lid to exchange with us.
